iampro.io lab · Measure 01 · Line 01, The truth about jobs
Out of 200 "remote" postings, 107 required being on site.
Measured on 21 October 2026
In a random draw of 200 postings labelled remote, 107 actually required on-site presence, and only 2 were open from any country.
107 on site 91 others, mostly limited to one country 2 open worldwide
- Scope
- 200 live postings labelled remote, drawn at random from the iampro.io index (240,430 such postings that day), all countries.
- Method
- Each posting is read by a language model answering two separate questions: is the remote work real, and from which countries can the job be held. A second, larger model rereads the same sample.
- Limits
- A single draw, on one date. The two models agree on 184 of the 200 postings on whether the remote work is real: the figure of 107 carries that margin. The sample is not stratified by country or occupation.
- What followed
- Experiment 03 · The remote-work reader
